Many people don’t realize, but in Minnesota owners whose property was sold at the sheriff’s auction, can still buy the property back from the sheriff and sell it. The redemption period could be 5 weeks, 6 months, and 12 months. If the property is vacant, usually the redemption period is only 5 weeks. If owners have less than 30% of the equity in their home, the redemption period is 6 months. And if there is more than 30% of equity, the redemption period is 12 months.
